AEDP Supervision
“The ultimate goal of supervision is to help practitioners grow, change, and translate this knowledge and these skills into their therapy sessions with their clients to achieve growth and change” Prenn 2017
I am currently an AEDP Supervisor-in-Training. I have been supervising AEDP therapists since March 2023 and during this time I have worked with therapists new to the AEDP model as well as experienced AEDP therapists working towards certification.
AEDP supervision is carried out through the review of videotaped client sessions. I can help you get started with this if it is new or challenging. More importantly, AEDP supervision is an embodied, experiential process offering the same stance as AEDP therapy – affirming, growth-oriented, relational, collaborative, honest and explicit. We will focus on AEDP skills, theory and interventions and equally make space for the Self of the therapist.
Please note that your supervision sessions with me do not count towards certification hours until I am a Certified Supervisor, although they can be counted retroactively.
Equine Partnered Therapy Supervision
As a faculty member for IFEEL, one of my favourite and most satisfying roles was mentoring and supervising students during their studies, as they start their practice and beyond. For the last few years I have had the privilege of supervising EFL practitioners who specialise in working from a trauma-informed perspective.
T
he most important aspects of mentoring and supervision are creating the space for you to explore:
- The style of working that is congruent for you, your clients and horses
- Compassionate awareness of your triggers (projection, transference and countertransference) and how to work with them
- Trusting the process – what does that look and feel like for both you and your clients?
- Using your body as a resource
- How to achieve a real partnership with your equine colleagues
- Ethics, risk assessment and scope of practice
I have an affirmative style both in my relationship to horses and people. This means that I focus on exploring and growing what you are doing that’s working, or as my horse trainer would say,
“Less correction, more direction” Anna Blake.
I am happy to offer supervision and mentoring to any EFL or EFP practitioner in the UK or internationally by Zoom.
